每一個社群都會以自己信奉的一套核心價值觀界定自己的身份。香港也不例外。
香港植根中華文化，由一個以華人為主的社會發展成一個多元共融的國際都會。香港人以此為榮。
在社會、經濟、政治上，在日常生活中，儘管我們不會把信奉的核心價值掛在口邊，但是這些信念成為我們判別是非的准則，亦界定了政府的角色，以及政府與市民之間的關係。
今天，我們邀請您一起探問：
- 什麼是您最珍惜的香港核心價值？
- 您所追求的香港核心價值是否已被侵蝕？
- 您認為香港市民應以何種方式維護香港核心價值？
儘管這個維護香港核心價值的公民運動是由幾十人的討論引發，再擴大到幾百人聯署宣言，但是我們深信，這不應是一個局限於一小撮專業人士、知識份子、公民團體或商界精英的運動。
香港是每一個市民的香港。為了我們的子孫後代、為了香港的未來、為了延續中國現代化的文化使命，請您與我們連結在一起：拒絕沉默、尋找契機，在生活上的每一個角落維護香港核心價值。
Every community has a set of core values which its members believe in and use to define their collective identify. Hong Kong is no exception.
Hong Kong is rooted in Chinese culture, and has progressed from a Chinese society into a modern and cross-cultural international metropolis. This is an achievement in which Hong Kong people take much pride.
In our social, political and everyday life,
even if we do not explicitly mention our core values, such
values are not only our yardsticks of what is right or wrong,
they also help shape the role of the government as well as
its relationship with the people.
Today we invite you to explore the following
crucial questions:
- What are the Hong Kong core values you
treasure most?
- Do you feel that those Hong Kong core
values that you treasure are being eroded?
- In what ways do you think Hong Kong people should use to uphold and safeguard these core values?
Although the present Hong Kong Core Values
Declaration was originally triggered by the discussion among
some 40 individuals and subsequently co-signed by a few hundred
people, we strongly believe that this civic movement should
not just be confined to a limited number of professionals,
intellectuals, NGO or business figures.
Hong Kong belongs to every Hong Kong citizen.
For the betterment of our next generation, for Hong Kong's
future and for the sake of contributing towards the overall
cultural mission of modernizing the Chinese nation, we urge
you all to show solidarity with this movement: Don't keep
silent! Do search for every opportunity to live out and defend
Hong Kong's core values at every quarter and in every aspect
of our daily lives!
